My brother was a math major and he told me he had a Priest teacher that called God the "Mathematician in the sky". After reading this, I think He is! I've never given most of this a thought!!!! This posting was sent to me on my email by my cousin Patty.
God's accuracy may be observed in the hatching of eggs. For example:-the eggs of the potato bug hatch in 7 days;-those of the canary in 14 days;-those of the barnyard hen in 21 days;-
The eggs of ducks and geese hatch in 28 days;-those of the mallard in 35 days;
-The eggs of the parrot and the ostrich hatch in 42 days.(Notice, they are all divisible by seven, the number of days in a week!)
God's wisdom is seen in the making of an elephant... The four legs of this great beast all bend forward in the same direction. No other quadruped is so made.
God planned that this animal would have a huge body, too large to live on two legs... For this reason He gave it four fulcrums so that it can rise from the ground easily.
The horse rises from the ground on its two front legs first.
A cow rises from the ground with its two hind legs first.
God's wisdom is revealed in His arrangement of sections and segments, as well as in the number of grains.-
Each watermelon has an even number of stripes on the rind.-
Each orange has an even number of segments.-Each ear of corn has an even number of rows.-
Each stalk of wheat has an even number of grains.-
Every bunch of bananas has on its lowest row an even number of bananas, and each row decreases by one, so that one row has an even number and the next row an odd number.-
The waves of the sea roll in on shore twenty-six to the minute in all kinds of weather.
All grains are found in even numbers on the stalks, and the Lord specified thirty fold, sixty fold, and a hundred fold - all even numbers.
God has caused the flowers to blossom at certain specified times during the day, so that Linnaeus, the great botanist, once said that if he had a conservatory containing the right kind of soil, moisture and temperature, he could tell the time of day or night by the flowers that were open and those that were closed!
I HOPE YOU FIND THIS AS FASCINATING AS I DID

That is interesting, love learning about the little things that we never think about and take for granted.

My dad was a math wizard, too. I remember him telling me a similar story in the 50s. Amazing.
thank you for the reminder of how big God is.
Hi Mary Lou,
Your post about numbers reminded me of something I learned years ago in the Sunset Garden book when reading about the Passion Vine Flower. Just looked it up again to make sure I quoted it correctly here.
"The Passion Vine Flower parts can be seen to symbolize elements of the passion of Christ, hence the plant's common name.
The passion flower has three prominent stigma at the center of the bloom. These are said to symbolize the three nails used in the crucifixion.
The five stamens of the passion flower are located directly behind the stigma, in front of the petals. They are representative of Christ's five wounds.
The most recognizable feature of the passion flower is the corona. This ring of thin, spiky, petal-like structures help attract insects to the blossom and are symbolic of the crown of thorns worn by Christ.
Although the passion flower appears to have 10 petals beneath the corona, there are actually only five. The remaining five are sepals. Together, the petals and sepals of the passion flower symbolize the 10 faithful apostles."
And that is why it is named the Passion Vine Flower. . .
There are no mysteries with God, it's all in the plan... and yet, I never cease to be amazed at the wonder of it all! Great post, Mary Lou. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing - I hated math in school but find things like this just fascinating, and perfect evidence of God's creation. I can't wait to read this to my boys - they're fascinated by this stuff too! Thanks for posting it!
A queen bee lays 1500 eggs per day--talk about crazy!
Math is fascinating, no? Here's one of my favorites:
111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 12,345,678,987,654,321
God is good!
Wow, I like that. Especially the eggs. Very cool.
Incredible! The way God does things never ceases to amaze me! I bet we could spend a lifetime being awed by His design. Donna
I believe the term often used for this is 'sacred geometry.' I have heard similar facts about everything from the facets or faces on crystals and stones, to the way the planets line up in space to the way that the planets themselves almost completely parallel the atoms and molecules in our human bodies. We are all connected by the unities in creation. And furthermore, man has actually learned to mimic the sacred formulations and create architecture and holy structures such as churchs and cathedrals based on these tenets.
The heavens declare the Glory of God and the firmament shows his handiwork. Psalm 19:1
Hello! The timing of this posting is sychronistic! I am plowing through the new book Kick Ass Creativity by Mary Beth Maziarz and on page 33 she says, "When we're open to this higher power, this source, we become channels to great brillance, to ideas beyond our own scope." She talks a lot, in a non pushy way about being focused and finding the sacred in the ordinary - like an egg, a bee, a flower!! Thank you Mary Lou!!! Stephanie
It is amazing. I always marvel at how well things work together in nature.
And then there is the Fibinochi series which follows all creation also.
We came across your site and love your inspiring words and your beautiful work. We've joined as followers. Thank you for this post !
Wow! This got my brain going this morning!
Thanks!
Betsy
Most interesting post, most interesting. Perhaps this is God's way of giving order to the universe. This was new to me so thank you for sharing.
Have a super great stitching day.
His infinite wisdom!
In all things great and small, we can see the hand of God. Thanks for the spiritual life! jean
What a wonderful story of facts! My grandparents and my parents taught us to love and to be in awe of the wonder of nature. I can still hear Mama saying, "Who could not believe in God when they look at this!" Everyday when I am outside I think the same thing. It is miraculous! Thank you for sharing!
love this mary lou! praise to the Creator! psalm 148
when i studied anatomy, i learned that inside the nose are two tiny bones that whirl, turbinates, to filter out dirt and such from entering the body through the nose. this is just one tiny thing about the body that proves only a supreme being could be the creator. the fascinating info you posted is equally fascinating in the human world too. thanks for sharing!
What a fascinating post! Thanks for sharing it.
God has such an amazing plan for us all!!!
These things in nature surely didn't happen just by coincidence.
Mary Lou, your posting was so interesting and I'm also loving all of the comments!
Amazing how everything works out evenly!
Thanks for sharing!

The Night-Blooming Cereus,
Queen of the Night ~ Deer-Horn Cactus
It is said to bloom only on the night of June 6 at Tohono Chul Park, according to Ohodam legend. However, it does bloom only once a year during the night in June & July. One flower, once a year, only at night!!
There are many more mysteries that God has created. It is up to us to enjoy them, whether we understand or not.
Hello missy

Mary Lou,
What an interesting post and a lot to think about! I have to pay more attention. Watermelons have even number of strips. A head of wheat has even # of grains. Thank you for sharing. God is amazing!
