Beginning of the Bird Quilt for the second graders auction quilt!

Five down and fifteen more to go. The kids did all of their own drawing and then all of their own painting. I am working with a group of kids each day this week and I have a large turquoise print background quilt done with border and we are sewing a large birch tree onto it (awesome print fabric) and adding these birds, leaves and flowers as well as a large peacock and flamingo. I expect this to do well as the colors and design will be outstanding and what fun for 7/8 year olds! Imagine how great this birch tree will be with 15 more of these lovely birds!

We have until March to sew this together, add rickrack, buttons and crystals. It should be quite te show stopper and I am saving my money....

I love these birds. Are you going to make a quilt from these pictures? I sure want to.

The kids are doing the birds for a quilt that has a printed background and a tree made of printed cloth with a hoochy border. Each child designed their own bird. I hope to do a bird quilt later with my Grandkids and some of my whacky birds too. Stay tuned........

Mary Lou,

I love the inspiration of this quilt. Several years ago we suprised a friend with a garden theme. One of the blocks I made was a mother bird feeding her chicks in a nest. Your nest of beaks needs a momma with some fat worms to feed them!

Love the colors! Are the children painting on fabric or are you going to transfer the paintings to fabric?

The children are studying birds this year with a great teacher. Each child chose their own bird. They are painting on fabric which will go onto the tree on the quilt.

Mary Lou,

I LOVE these birds. I'm going to try to figure out how to make a quilt like this with my granddaughters. Can you please post a picture of the finished quilt and let us know how to purchase a raffle ticket.

Thanks,
