The Joy of Snow and Winter and the Dark Side of the Seasons.....

Here is the beginning of our heavy snowfall-my son in law tries to keep up with it.....

OK, so above is the beginning of our 110 inches of snow- what joy the beauty of the snow brought us, you can see my Grandchildren were so happy...and then......

CRASH, CRASH, CRASH!!!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

More crash, crash, crash!

And finally HUGE crashes and then silence..... with more snow from the part of the roof that is left! This is my daughter's house and the backyard awning and part of her roof caved in this morning as she and her kids were getting ready for the day....
Upon calling the contractor the insurance company recommended, they said "lady, you might want to call someone else, we have so many cave in's we don't know when we can ever get to YOU. :0) So, as you nice Californians, Arizona people and other Southerners think it might be great to live in the Northwest, think about it again. :0) Comments?

We spent a week between Christmas and New Years in Flagstaff Arizona and the entire town was covered in snow, the worst snow accumulation since 1967. Many businesses had their roofs collapse under the weight of the snow. We saw more people on their roofs trying the break up ice dams. I am so happy we were only visiting and feel very lucky that we found someone to dig out our driveway on our second day. What a trip! We read about your grocery store collapsing in the Flagstaff paper. Yikes.

WoW!Over 100 inches?! Snow can be so beautiful, but it really is a dangerous thing when it is that deep...hope you all stay safe.Maybe you should take everyone with you to balmy Nebraska!

I have been reading a lot of blogs that are talking about all their snow and I long for some of it. Not enough to cave things in like y'all are experiencing up there but a couple of consecutive days of it would be absolutely fabulous. I live in North Texas, and once or twice a year (if we're lucky), we get one day of flurries or or a little snow. Usually, however, we get an ugly ice storm! I'm so desperate for snow, I even look forward to that! Tee-hee-hee! All that being said, I just stepped outside and it's 70 degrees today. I'll take that too but I'm still hoping for snow in the next month or so! Have a great day and a good trip to Nebraska! D~~~~

Well, all that snow and your grandchildren enjoying it! Lovely picture. Not good about the damage to the roof etc. Here in Victoria, Australia we have been sweltering in temps. 42c! The next day it was 32c early morning with a cool change later in the day of 30c! Regards, Nessie
