A Cold Snowy Day Invited Sewing for Mary Lou and Her Granddaughter

So, it is a cold and snowy day here and my Granddaughter played hockey this morning and came over to spend the night. "How about learning the hoochy technique of sewing a quilt?" I said> "Sure" she said and we were off!
Papa went and got us sandwiches at Subway and we sewed and ironed and folded and unfolded...I am teaching her to love fabrics and color as I do! What fun to work on this hoochy quilt together. We will back it with Minke and have it quilted for her room. Love making memories with my Grandkids. How about you working with someone younger and getting them hooked on quilting too? It is so much fun to do together!

Looks like your granddaughter is going to have a lovely quilt Mary Lou. We are still experiencing summer with some very hot days where I live in Australia. Regards, Nessie

My granddaughter is 9 now but at age 3 completed her first simple quilt, choosing the squares from a bin I keep and putting them on the design wall to her liking. She sat in my lap and sewed every square together on my Bernina, then I quilted it. Next grandson (7) finished his at age 5 and loved operating that machine, and now the next in line, grandson age 6 is almost finished with his. They have had so much fun. Now the 2 older ones can sit at a small table I have and sew on a small Janome I have by themselves, learning to operate that foot pedal on their own. Two more grandchildren will be making theirs in the next few years! What fun!

Is there any better feeling than quilting with your granddaughter? You can see it in their eyes when they watch their quilt grow....you will have a lifelong quilting pal~ ♥E

My granddaughter is not yet 2 so I have this to look forward to. It's a great quilt though. Enjoy!
