Whidbey Island, a little piece of paradise.....The CUPCAKES retreat is another success after ten years of fun together!

The photo above made me very happy. I LOVE pin cushions and Laurie made a special one for each of us. Laurie still needs to mae one for herself. They are filled with emery and they are perfect for using on your machine. Just ask Eilene who has them all here on her machine for show. One downfall this week was it was too hot to make cupcakes! Nuts-I didn't lose any weight though that is for sure.
Mutiny Bay provided alot of beauty, laughs, food and sewing for the "Cupcakes" retreat. Although the temperature was close to 100 for a few days and we had NO airconditioning, we kept sewing and working and producing. Great recipes and great quilts and projects appeared out of no where. Great fun and lots of laughs....and showers to try to cool off!

The five of us realized we are all Bernina gals and one machine was too big to bring outdoors. We have a range of ages and styles and are proud to be Bernina owners and fans. :0)

Here was my sewing station......note the kettle corn, licorice, jelly bellies, caramels, shoppers and peanut m&m's. We needed our energy to get alot done and this helped. :0) We were high on Peets coffee and candy for much of the week. No bathroom scales around thank heavens.

Wach girl took a turn cooking and this berry cobbler that Laurie made with ice cream was quite exceptional and I am going to be printing the recipe here for you. Several others will go on my newsletter for Yahoo that you can sign up for on the left column here (scroll down).

Susan is always making things for charity and others and this year, she made many aprons for an auction.
The photos above were sent by Susan and I will be downloading mine soon so you can see what I took too.

Looks like a fun retreat, but I think I would die in those temps without air conditioners. I like how you used stripes for the cupcake holders.

Hi Mary Lou
Sounds like you had a great time. I would have died in 100 degree temps! The cupcakes are precious.

Great photos Mary Lou!

I love how she picked the striped fabrics for the paper liners!

I hope you had some red wine with your m&m's, it tastes really yummy.

Can't wait to see some more photos.
