COLOR of the Year, and some good advice too

This color is ggrowing on me again...it used to be in once earlier in my life and everyone mixed it with cranberry and my goodness almost everyone had this green carpeting and restaurants too. I have always been a red, white and yellow girl in my home so I didn't sway to green BUT I am finding myself really studying it. The reason why is I am invited to do an Ireland tour for the quilt show in 2014. I have started telling people that I would LOVE to have friends go and that with the date a year and a half away this would give you time if you started saving a bit now. We get to see the Ireland Quilt Symposium and also go on a bus tour to see the delightful country of Ireland. Now to me this is music to my ears as I am Irish and with a name like Mary Donahue and my brother Danny Donahue, you can get much more than that. For years my Grandmother would send me a little package of Irish girls in porceline. Now I have the bright idea of doing a nice big Irish quilt. And what better color to base the quilt on this shade of green, am I right? So , if you are Irish or want to be, then you might plan on a trip along with me to Ireland in June of 2014 and also making an Irish quilt which I would happily feature here on my blog and if we got enough of them I can find us a great venue to show our work! FUN!
What are your feelings of this color? I have a few give away things and if you post in the next two weeks, you might be lucky and win something fun.

This is one of my favourite shades of green. I didn't realise that it is colour of the year. I would love to join you in Ireland but it is unlikely to happen as it is so far from New Zealand. I have been to Ireland once about 6 years ago and absolutely loved it.

Mary Lou, this green is a LOT of green! Now that I have seen your photos, rather than just the pantone original post, it is beginning to grow on me. Happy New Year!

I have to say, severalmyears ago, this was my favorite color with burgundy. Now my favorite is lime green, mainly becauseboth of my kids were born in August - with the birthstone of peridot. I still have a fondness for emerald though!

I really like the green color this year! My school colors were green and gold, so I guess I grew up with green all around.

I especially liked the green forest picture and the swirly green fabric and the green braided fabric(?) pictures.

Peridot is my birthstone color too, so lime green is my favorite. I wore lime green shoelaces in my silver shoes to my friends' wedding last month!

I've always been a green person, so I love the emerald. Emerald is my birthstone, so I wear emerald earrings and right now I'm wearing a bright emerald sweater. My names might be Brenda, and I can only wish I was Irish. bring on the green!

Happy New Year! Well, green is a lucky color and in the year 2013 we can all use a little extra luck. It's a pretty intense color and will need strong color to balance it...or neutrals to calm it down. It definately makes a statement and gets noticed. Best wishes for a healthy, happy and lucky new year!

My second try! This post makes me happy! Green is my sons favorite color! Ireland is on his bucket list, and he wants a kilt in our tartan! I need to make him a story quilt in a kilt. Too fun!
Thanks for always sharing with us.

Wow that color just pops. Makes me think of Spring and growing things. Green was always my brother and nephew's favorite color while purple is mine. I have to say looking at these photos has given me a new appreciation for the color. and inspiration. Lovely.

I LOVE the color! I am wearing it right now as an accent. Now I can't see myself having a kitchen the color, but a little is so cool!

I love the color of the green glass in the pictures. There must be a quilt with a thatched house and a cow and stone fence. Right. What a wonderful reason to save money, anyone know how? Mary in MI

Green is my favourite. I have been to Ireland (it is not too far away from Germany) and I was overwhelmed to see THAT many shades of green.

Love your blog!!!
