Well, my Mother passed away this morning at 9:30. I wasn't ready (are you ever?).
Yesterday was such a lovely day for her and four of her Great Grandchildren brought up a darling banner they made that said "Get Well Soon" and they put it up on the wall with a photo of them together. When I went in, she was so happy and pleased and said how well behaved the kids were. She and I were making plans for two story quilts for her about her life and she wanted another pajama party like the ones we had before she ended up in the hospital. She was sweet and funny and never complained up to the end. Her surgeon said she was amazing with not complaining of pain after what she went through.
Anyway, some of you have written lovely emails and commented in the chatroom and I just wanted you to know and to thank you. You are never ready to lose your Mother and I wasn't ready to give her up this soon.
Mary Lou

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Your mother sounds wonderful and that makes the loss even harder to bear. Just know that many of us care and are sending comfort your way. (Insert virtual hug here.)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear the news Mary. I wasn't ready to give up my Dad. Perhaps I didn't have that "quality" time with him before he became ill. We had great moments and I knew he loved me but I wasn't ready. I wasn't at peace with it. Now that I have had these last 10 months with him, I tried to document as much as I could, talk as much as I could and listen as much as I could. I will never be "ready" but I feel I will be at peace. I pray that God puts peace in your heart and with your family. If you ever need anything, I'm here.
ReplyDeleteMay the memories of the good times with your mother comfort you in this time of sorrow. I lost my mother 2 years ago unexpectley also. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of her, there are still so many things I'd like to tell or ask her. Time does heal. God bless.
ReplyDeleteMary Lou, I am so sorry for your loss. My 91 year old mother lives with me and I know her time will come someday. Like you, I know I will not be ready. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
